MASSACHUSETTS
EARLY CHILDHOOD EXCHANGE
Connecting Research & Policy
Why this partnership?
At a time when Massachusetts is making significant investments in young children and families, the need for timely, accessible, and actionable evidence has never been greater.
The Early Childhood Exchange (ECX) was established to help bridge the gap between research and policymaking by providing state and local leaders with actionable insights to inform early childhood policy, implementation, and funding decisions across Massachusetts. This partnership between the Rennie Center for Education Research & Policy, Strategies for Children, and the Massachusetts Early Childhood Policy Research Collaborative has been years in the making. Together, our organizations are creating new ways to connect research, policy, and practice, helping state and local leaders better understand what is working, where challenges remain, and how to make the most of public investments in early childhood.
What We Do
Research Translation
By strengthening the connection between research and policymaking, ECX provides policymakers with timely, relevant, and actionable evidence to support policy development, implementation, and budget decisions.
Emerging Trends Analysis
As new research continues to shape the field, ECX identifies, analyzes, and translates emerging evidence into practical insights that help policymakers, state agencies, legislators, and communities make informed decisions.
Responsive Policy Engagement
When policymakers need evidence to inform a program, proposed legislation, or funding decision, ECX delivers timely, credible, and actionable research analysis tailored to their specific questions and priorities.
Knowledge Exchange
ECX bridges gaps across research, policy, and practice by fostering collaboration among researchers, policymakers, state leaders, and communities to ensure evidence more directly informs decisions affecting young children and families across Massachusetts.
